Go Back
I would like to first off start off my report with congrats to Capt.
Kevin Beach on the first blue of the year, way to go guys. Well as of
Friday there were still not much happening on the lump for our crew on
board the "Lucky Egg" with Capt. Danny and Josh. I was getting ready
for a overnight trip for Saturday on board the Strike Zone Too. We
decided to wait on our trip for Friday night to get out on Saturday to
have the best opportunity o fish in some great weather. And that is
what happened, the weather was great and the fish were hungry. While
fishing the overnight trip on Saturday there was a boat out at Mars
that was taking on water and once a crewman from another vessel got on
the boat that was taking on water he got it up and running for them.
Once they were running good they headed off into the darkness on the
way to Grand Isle not to be heard from again. If anyone knows if they
are ok it would be nice to know. But once we got back to fishing the
fish
were still there and hungry. We continued to catch yellow fins into
sunrise when we chose to head in with nine yellows and a nice dolphin.
Once back to the dock we waited for Capt. Danny to return from his day
trip with Mr. Josh and friends on board the Lucky Egg. I heard some talk
on the radio that a few fish were caught so I was really looking forward
to the see what they had and the disappointment hit when they got in and
the bite never happened for them. So all hopes were lost for the Lump and
tomorrow was a new day for us. Up early and ready to head down the river
when the fog was just to bad to go that way with all the logs and trash
in the river, it was just not happening so with some other attempts we
decided to come back and once the fog lifted we were out on the way to
find some fish. With a late start we managed to put two real nice
wahoo's and a fat black fin in the boat before heading in to beat the
dark witch caught up with us as we were just coming across the ponds into
the river. I would like to thank Capt. Devlin for making this trip happen
for me with little time to work with. We are still looking for a
deckhand. If interested please contact us at 225-279-3800 or
504-382-2108 or e-mail me. And for those that want to get out and have
your own adventure with us don'twait till the last minute to do your
booking the boats are filling up for the spring and summer now!
Capt. Kevin
