Go Back
Thing have been bazaar in the Strike Zone Camp over the past few
weeks...From the death of our great deckhand Nick, (our prayers go out to
him and his family) to the expansion of our operation to Guatemala.
I just returned from Guatemala with my wife who was on a medical mission
trip. My wife and a staff of doctors, nurses, nurse anesthetists, scrub
techs and a pharmacist – over 80 surgeries were performed on very poor
children and adults in a week. We stayed in the quaint little city of
Antigua where we were the guest of Mr. Edgar Castile. Edgar is the owner
of the number one beer company in Central America (Gallo Beer). He wanted
me to experience the Sail Fishing in Guatemala. It took me about two
seconds to agree to make the trip to the Pacific Coast which is about a 45
minute drive from Antigua.
We arrived at Marina Pez Vela (Marina Sail Fish) at 10:30 am and climbed
aboard Edgar’s grandson’s brand new 36' Bertram. We went about 20 miles
offshore and began trolling for SailFish. We put two flat lines out with
teasers on them and the two outriggers with circle hooks and Ballyhoos.
The fifth rod & reel was in the cockpit to release as the bill fish got
into the baits. After five minutes of trolling both riggers rang
out...Two Bull Dolphin...I thought I was back in Venice........Lines back
in the water and the bait was on.......SailFish after SailFish for next
two hours....We tagged 11 SailFish and missed 7; but we saw at less 100
free jumping. We were back at the Marina for 3:00pm and enjoyed an iced
cold Gallo beer at the outdoor bar. I was HOOKED and that was it ...I
wanted to have a charter operation in Guatemala. After one week of
working on the project, I was able to start a company and put a 5 day
package together. We can pick you up at the airport, bring you to the
Pacific for three days of blue water offshore fishing, then on to Antiqua
for a one night stay where we will wine & dine you for under $1700.00 per
person.
Welcome to STRIKE ZONE GUATEMALA!
I was able to get a local cell phone for 10 cents a minute so that I could
call the USA and keep in touch with Capt. Kevin. He had a 24 hr trip on
the 55' Ocean and had 11 Yellowfin and 3 Wahoo (Not on the LUMP).~~~~ Just
added a fast 35' sport fishing Yacht to our fleet in Venice for the day
trips.
Come play with the big boys on one of the many big Money tournaments in
the Gulf of Mexico on a chartered Yacht.
Give Us A Call - Gary at 225~279~3800 or Deana at 225~610~7603
